Mildren ‘Pause 4 Safety’ events
Mildren run two Safety Stand down events a year, involving all work being stopped on site for Mildren staff and subcontractors, with senior managers and directors delivering a short presentation on good health and safety practice.
Topics are picked based on internal or industry trend analysis. These events see our directly employed and supply chain teams presented with fresh guidance, quick facts, case studies and videos, providing the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.
Last week, Richard Hardy, HSEQ Manager, visited all active sites. Richard, supported by either James Evans or Leigh Parkes, HSEQ Advisors delivered the safety briefing.
We engaged the operatives in discussion and received valuable feedback from 127 operatives across 12 construction sites. We reached all of our sites across four days travelling 680 miles in the process.
The four topics covered in the Pause 4 Safety summer event 2022 were:
- Safety in Shallow Excavations – Benching and Battering / Use of Light Weight Shoring Systems
- Slip & Trips – Responsibility for the Work Area / Keeping Tidy / Making Safe
- Fire Safety – Smoking Controls / Extinguisher Use
- Vehicle Marshalling – Effective Control / Doing it Well / Keeping Safe
These events are a valuable opportunity to raise the profile of safety and share learning directly with our operatives, using real life examples and lessons learnt on Mildren Construction sites.
