A massive well done to the Mildren site team at St James, Chichester who scored an Excellent 41/45 during their first site visit from the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

High scores in some areas were anticipated, including the Mildren welcome, site tidiness, signage and branding, along with our rigid environmental / health and safety checks and operations. Site machinery runs on hydrogenated vegetable oil, aiding our environmental performance.

We also scored well in Respect the Community and Value their Workforce, supported by the appointment of two apprentices on the project to date.

Integration and engagement with the local community has been high, the Mildren team issuing feedback forms and regular newsletters. We have always maintained an open-door policy on site and are pleased to report regular donations of biscuits from one of several neighbours who benefitted from a free of charge post-storm fence fixing!

It’s ‘Free Fruit Friday’ day today, produce supplied by Mildren.

‘Tools down tidy Friday’ helps tidy the site and surrounding area externally, where we send our team out litter picking. We also encourage everyone to bring something in to donate to the local food bank.

Each of these areas is covered in the initial induction and with 20 people on site at any one time, this can make a real difference to both our teams and the local community.

Excellent work!
