Construct a new art & design building

Bournemouth & Poole College were the clients for this contract in which Mildren Construction constructed an entirely new high specification art building. The 900m2 steel framed metal clad building is complete with photovoltaic cells to provide the building with its own energy. These are fixed on a Northlight roof design to provide maximum natural daylight.

As students of the college were in the near vicinity, thorough risk assessments and Criminal Record Bureau checks were carried out to ensure their safety. We also liaised with student representatives and staff to ensure the project ran smoothly and safely.

The combination of restricted access on site and location of our site compound taking up parking spaces proved to be a challenge in the design stage. Mitigation of these issues meant a well thought out programme to ensure all aspects of work including delivery of goods and trades people on site caused minimal disruption to the smooth operation of the college.

This project was completed under a JCT Design and Build Contract.
