The Mildren team are delighted to have achieved an Excellent Considerate Constructors Score at AECC University College in Boscombe, 40/45 – a big well done to the team involved.

The new Integrated Rehabilitation Centre, due to complete in August 2022, has given Mildren Construction and AECC University College the opportunity to further integrate with the community in this largely residential area. A key driver for the building’s end use is not just rehabilitation from illness or injury, but emotional health and wellbeing. The building, garden and green roof will become havens for recovery in this community-friendly neighbourhood, bridging gaps in existing local services.

The CCS assessment highlighted several key points which contributed to this score, including excellent communication flows both internally and externally, regular site tours for the University College staff to showcase progress and Mildren assisting AECC University College in other projects such as undertaking a DDA compliant upgrade to their car park entrance. The team has also enabled donations of materials for a local community allotment project.

The workforce is predominantly local and has greatly benefitted by engaging five apprentices on site at AECC University College. Social engagement has proved key on this project, with the sponsorship of local events and money raised for WaterAid. As is practiced on other sites, we encourage contributions to the local foodbank and operate Free Fruit Friday / Tools Down Tidy Friday in order to maintain a clear and tidy site but also to clear further afield within the local area.

AECC University College’s Chief Operating Officer Julie Currin said “It has been a pleasure to work with Mildren Construction Limited as they have built AECC University College’s Integrated Rehabilitation Centre, which is set to open in September 2022.

“This ‘Excellent’ rating by the Considerate Construction Scheme reflects our experience of Mildren as our construction partner and the care and attention that they, their sub-contractors and professional advisers have shown to our project, in particular with pro-active communication and actions to find solutions to problems before they arise. Well done Mildren.”

Mildren’s Construction Director Richard Holmes said “This is a well-deserved score on such an important local project. We are very proud of our team operation and pleased to see that Mildren’s respectful ethos has been recognised.”
