Crabbe Lane Bridge

Railway Bridge Safety Barrier

The aim of these safety improvement works is to prevent the accidental incursion on to the railway by highway traffic.

The works comprised the provision of 30m length safety barrier (including full height anchors and transition) plus end terminals on each of the northwest and northeast approaches to the railway bridge.

Brick faced reinforced concrete walls were installed at the southeast and southwest corners of the bridge. The wall at the southeast corner was built on top of the railway embankment. Due to the railway remaining in constant use for the duration of the work, Mildren took responsibility for the designing and checking of a suitable temporary works solution to safeguard both our workforce and railway.
