New MKM Builders Merchant

The project
Construction of a new builders merchant for MKM Building Supplies with a GIA of 12,510sqft comprising a steel frame structure on a 7m grid and 6m height to haunch. The building has a pitched roof, externally clad walls, glazing and loading doors. Internal fit-out included internal walls, ceilings, floor finishes, M&E installations, new incoming services and drainage.

The new MKM building is sited on a disused fuel depot which had also been farm land in the past. Hydrocarbons were removed before the build commenced on site.

A BAPA was undertaken due to the proximity of a Network Rail asset and their boundary fence.

Our wider works included;

  • all associated car parking and circulation space
  • concrete service yards to the rear
  • boundary treatments and soft landscaping
  • a new site access road, including associated footpaths and drainage
  • site-wide spine foul drainage with connection points into each future site plot
  • site-wide ducting for proposed services installations into each future site plot, plus the initial sub-station

The new site entrance from the A259 included a new signalised junction that was delivered during night working to ease congestion on a busy arterial route.
