Monkerton Link Road
Construction of a link between Juntion 29 of the M5 and the Pinhoe district of Exeter
The Monkerton Link Road provides a link across a Greenfield site between Juntion 29 of the M5 and the Pinhoe district of Exeter. A single carriageway main road adjoins an existing roundabout at one end and at the other, Pinhoe Road, the existing road is completely remodelled and included a traffic signal interchange junction.
The works commenced with major earthworks comprising some 20,000m³ excavation and 16,000m³ structural fill in very weather susceptible ground conditions. Other work included traditional carriageway pavements, footways, drainage, service provision and a large insitu reinforced storm water culvert. The works were successfully opened on time.
