Daedalus Phase 1C

Business Park Service Road & Utilities Infrastructure

The Hangars East site is an area earmarked for significant redevelopment within the Solent Enterprise Zone at Lee-On-Solent near Fareham. This project was one of two major road and infrastructure projects undertaken by Hampshire County Council on the Daedalus site as part of their commitment to attract new business to the area.

The Works comprised the construction of 820m of new access road and infrastructure to serve this new commercial and light Industrial development. All carriageways and footways were constructed to Hampshire County Councils adoptable standards.

New utilities were laid along the length of the access road from which connections to the new development plots can be made. A new foul water pumping station was also constructed to Southern Water’s adoptable standards and to fully comply with Sewers for Adoption 7th Edition.

The airfield is used for general aviation with the main north – south runway normally in use. However, during the construction period for this contract, the secondary runway (east – west) was used temporarily for flights and airfield operations, whilst the main runway was being re-surfaced. This in turn placed height restrictions on the construction site, plant and apparatus to ensure flight paths were safeguarded.
