Weymouth Gateway Phase 2, Mercery Road

New Retail Park

Mildren Construction was appointed for Phase 2 of a new retail park on Mercery Road, Weymouth, working for London Metric. The new design and build development offers a Dunelm, B&M, Costa Coffee and McDonalds and is now known as Weymouth Gateway. The works comprised access roads including an internal spine road to the eastern boundary, car parking and a service yard to the southern boundary. The car park contains 32 electric car charging spaces and cycle parking areas. We carried out landscaping and common infrastructure services.

Following the levelling of the site, we installed a kingpost retaining wall. The design also includes precast infill panels. The kingpost retaining wall sits towards the back of the service yard and to the west of the Unit 2 compound.

Works commenced in early October 2021 and completed in November 2022. The McDonald’s drive-thru opened in May 2022 and Costa Coffee in August 2022. Dunelm and B&M opened in November 2022.

As a sideline to this project, we overhauled Littlemoor Community Garden, donating materials and skills with the help of our local supply chain. 280 jobs have been created at the site, along with 50 construction roles and 50 local jobs during the build.​
