New anaerobic digester (AD) plant

This is our third project for our Client Eco Sustainable Solutions, where we are currently on site building a new AD plant.

The primary objective of this project is to convert food waste into biomethane, aligning with the objectives of the UK’s Green Gas Support Scheme by preparing the biomethane for injection into the national gas network. Initially, the facility will process up to 40,000 tonnes of food waste annually, with infrastructure designed to eventually handle up to 60,000 tonnes, in anticipation of future expansions to enhance processing capacity.

The AD plant will feature two digesters, an end storage tank/hybrid digester, two food soup waste buffer tanks, a silage/diet feeder, macerator and pumping system, new flare, a gas upgrading system, a digestate pasteurisation system, propane storage, and a new grid entry unit.

Additional civil engineering requirements include the construction of an impermeable membrane below a reinforced concrete slab with 1.5m high bund wall with a flood gate entry system.

All civil designs will comply with relevant standards for AD plants, including SSAFO (Silage, Slurry, and Agricultural Fuel Oil) regulations and CIRIA C736 guidance on containment systems for the prevention of pollution.
