The Meadows Gyratory

Reducing congestion and journey times at The Meadows

The Meadows is a major gyratory providing connectivity between the M3 with the A30 and a key access route into Camberley town centre.

The improved Meadows Gyratory will reduce travel time across the junction and reduce circulating traffic. These improvements are vital to ensure the future well-being of Camberley and resilience on the A30.

The new signals will operate under ‘real-time’ urban traffic control. This means that the vehicle detector on the ground will continuously monitor traffic queues on all road sections at the gyratory and adjust the signal timings to minimise queues and reduce delays.

Other improvements included the provision of new and improved signal crossings and traffic islands to protect pedestrians and cyclists.

The scheme was undertaken in phases to ensure continuity of traffic flow across the junction. We worked closely with Highways England, Surrey County Council, Hampshire County Council and Bracknell Forest District Council to minimise the impact on the M3 and neighbouring roads.

The works took less than a year to complete and we received positive feedback from the public.

Working with various councils

minimising impact on M3

The contractor has worked very professionally and considerately - and we have noticed very little inconvenience. In fact the temporary signals worked better than the previous permanent ones - and the new right turn looks like it will be of great overall benefit too.
