Hitches Lane Cycle Track

1.6km Cycle Link

Mildren Construction were successful in Tendering for this 1.6km purpose built cycle and pedestrian path, creating a link between Hitches Lane and Fleet Town Centre, helping to keep users safely away from a busy main road traffic route.

The project involved the installation of street lighting, improvement to some drainage systems along the route as well as a retaining wall and new flight of brick and paving stairs.

Special consideration was given when the works passed close to two primary schools along the route. Ensuring that minimal disruption was caused at peak times either end of the school day, protecting all users from the work itself and minimising dust, noise and vibration at all times.

Consideration was also required when working adjacent to the many well established trees along the path, Root Protection was given a key priority, with a specialist Selweb ‘No Dig’ root protection system being employed where traditional footpath construction methods were deemed unsuitable.

The project was completed both within programme and budget.
