We have been announced as a finalist in the Solent Business Awards (SBA) this year.

Judges from the sponsor KPMG and from the SBA interviewed directors of Mildren last month for the Company of the Year award and looked at the following criteria:

  • Excellence in both products and services to customers.
  • Past achievements and future plans.
  • Financial performance.
  • The identification and drive in to new markets.
  • Commitment to the training and development needs of employees.
  • Contribution to enhancing the region’s business reputation and protecting the county’s environment.

This award recognises companies that have truly achieved all-round business excellence in terms of financial performance, strategic direction, people, products and services against the continuing backdrop of uncertain economic times.

Now in its third year, the SBAs have quickly become established as the premier multi-category awards scheme covering the entire South Coast and Solent area.

David Murray, publisher of The Business Magazine, said: “These awards are aimed very much at the ‘top-end‘; they are prestigious trophies that attract entries from the very best companies. Our focus is to have a quality annual competition – and we are delighted that we have such strong support from our sponsors.”

KPMG’s Southampton office senior partner Will Smith said that #SolentBA, covering the whole Solent area, was a “fantastic demonstration and celebration of the strength of Solent-based businesses”.

Andy Cowie, business development director of James Cowper Kreston said: “It’s been a real privilege to get to meet some of the regions foremost SME businesses over the course of our judging of this award and use the #SolentBA to recognise and celebrate the strength of business in our region.”

“The Solent Business Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the best of the best. Every year we’re blown away by the ambitious and determined businesses that are dominating the Solent region.” said John Hutchinson, Pitmans Law managing partner.

Simon French, Mildren’s MD said: ”We are delighted to have reached the final of the Solent Business Awards and very much look forward to finding out the results to be announced next month.”

The winners will be announced at the glittering black-tie Awards Dinner at the Hilton, Ageas Bowl, on 19th October.
