Mildren is pleased to announce that’s its latest project at Daedalus has been successfully completed, 7 weeks early. The project involved the design and construction of 5 single storey general aviation hangars in two blocks, the works also included the creation of car parking and service provisions for a future amenity building. Each unit has an internal floor space of 607sq/m and have been built for the storage of light aircraft.

This project adds to Mildren’s portfolio of work on the site, which commenced with the construction of two major access roads at separate locations on the airfield site, followed by the completion of over 130,000sq/ft of industrial and warehousing floor space.

Daedalus (The Solent Enterprise Zone) was designated by the Government as one of 11 enterprise zones around the country. Fareham Borough Council has created a vision and strategy for the redevelopment of the site, which is to retain and develop the operational airfield as a centre for aviation, aerospace and marine sector businesses and activities.

It is estimated that around 3,500 jobs will be created within the Enterprise Zone, turning the area into a destination of choice for advanced manufacturing and technology businesses, especially within the marine, aerospace and aviation sectors.

Chris Wingham, Chairman of Mildren said:  “We have undertaken a great deal of work on the Daedalus site since 2014 and are pleased to have maintained our presence on the site with this project on behalf of our client Fareham Borough Council.”

“The Daedalus vision is very impressive and will provide fantastic facilities for specialist sector tenants”
